Airbus partners with RugGear to deliver Agnet with devices as a single package

Airbus Public Safety and Security has entered into a strategic partnership with RugGear to provide mission-critical communication users with device hardware solutions optimised for demanding field operations. Under this global ecosystem agreement, Airbus will offer its Agnet MCX subscriptions alongside RugGear ruggedised devices. This initiative especially addresses the transition of narrowband system users to broadband by simplifying the procurement and lifecycle management of specialised, durable devices.

The partnership enables organisations to procure Agnet user licences and Agnet certified rugged devices together through a unified purchasing process. To overcome the brief lifecycles typical of consumer commercial hardware, the partnership introduces extended lifecycle coverage. This includes a long-term service level agreement providing up to eight years of hardware warranty, spare parts availability, and firmware support. This extended support structure is designed to assure service continuity and reduce maintenance complexity for IT managers.

The initial device portfolio comprises five optional models available in different price points, including the new RG380, alongside the existing RG750, RG880i, RG541, and RG190  models. Organisations retain the flexibility to mix and match different ruggedised models within a single order to satisfy diverse operational requirements across their fleets. The devices operate with the ergonomic Agnet Work Plus and Agnet TETRA mobile applications developed by Airbus, featuring user interfaces designed in collaboration with frontline emergency responders.

In line with its broader critical collaboration strategy, Airbus maintains an agnostic approach to hardware provision. This non-exclusive partnership with RugGear establishes a standardised ecosystem framework, allowing Airbus to pursue similar technical collaborations with alternative device manufacturers in the future.
